چکیده

A 42-year-old woman had a change in the character of her migraine headaches. Her usual pattern consisted of throbbing frontoparietal headaches that occurred at biweekly intervals for many years. The new headaches had begun several months before and she described them as “ice pick” headaches occurring three to four times per day in the right frontoparietal region. She also experienced the new onset of light scintillations in her left eye and an intermittent feeling of a “bandlike” tightness around her head. The patient had no history of seizures and no focal neurologic symptoms. Findings of neurologic and general physical examinations were normal. Laboratory investigations revealed a mild irondeficiency anemia that responded to iron therapy.

Intracranial cysts: radiologic-pathologic correlation and imaging approach.

Cysts and cystic-appearing intracranial masses have a broad imaging and pathologic spectra. The authors review the pathologic findings, origin, radiologic appearance, and differential diagnosis of many different intracranial cysts. A diagnostic algorithm based on most common anatomic locations is presented that helps narrow the differential diagnosis.

A Case of Giant Skull Base Chondroma

Intracranial chondroma is a rare benign tumor. Here, we present the case of a 29-year-old female who was afflicted with left eye blindness and ptosis. Brain computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed the presence of a giant calcified mass accompanied by a solid mass in the middle and posterior fossa. A differential diagnosis regarding chordoma, chondrosarcoma, and other cho...

Giant Chondroma of Falx: A Case Report

Chondromas are benign tumors that may be found in many parts of the body. Among intracranial neoplasms, tumors of cartilaginous origin are rare. It has been shown that most of these tumors arise from the skull base. Their occurrence in other parts of the intracranial cavity is unusual. Chondroma of falx is a rare neoplasm. In this report we introduce a case of falcine chondroma arose from front...

An Intracranial Chondroma with Intratumoral Hemorrhage: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

A 55-year-old female presented to the emergency room with a complaint of aphasia. Her initial brain computed tomography scan showed an intracranial hemorrhage in the left frontal area. After surgery, histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of a chondroma. Intradural chondroma is a rare, slow growing, benign intracranial neoplasm, but is even rarer in combination with an intratumor...

Radiologic-pathologic correlation. Capillary hemangioma of the meninges.

Hemangiomas are the most common tumor of the head and neck in children, including intracranial neoplasms. Capillary hemangioma in turn is the commonest type of hemangioma. Our case establishes that its anatomic distribution may include the intracranial compartment. We were unable to distinguish capillary hemangioma from meningioma based on imaging findings alone.
